Front Entrance to house with stone walls and lush planting

Life After Lawn

Piedmont

This beautiful home was once hidden behind overgrown, high water use planting. A bland, underwhelming entry further detracted from its potential. A new, spacious stone patio with stone seat walls and a small water feature welcomes guests and neighbors to sit for a moment and enjoy the regionally appropriate planting, providing interest with each season. Existing London plane street trees provide ample shade to the patio while existing Japanese maples create an understory and bring softness to the home’s facade.

Step lighting and a simple metal handrail ensure safety of movement to the front door. Pollinators and birds can frequently be seen among the dynamic plantings and partaking in a well earned drink from the water feature. Passersby now stop to compliment both the garden and architecture of the home.
